Kingsport Police Department officers are searching for a woman they said attempted to take over $500 in merchandise from the Fort Henry Drive Walmart on May 20.

According to a KPD news release, the woman was seen trying to take the merchandise around 8 p.m. and she was approached by a store loss prevention officer, who attempted to detain her as she left the store.

Police said the woman was able to get away and the stolen items were recovered.

Anyone who recognizes the woman is asked to call KPD Criminal Investigations Division at 229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 246-9111.
