The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that identity of a woman who died in a fire in Rogersville early Thursday morning.
According to a HCSO news release, Hawkins County 911 received the call about the fire, located at 5274 Highway 11W in Rogersville, around 2:05 a.m.
When fire personnel arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a building, which housed apartments and Discount Vapors.
A woman, later identified as Krissy Gale Davis, 35, was found unresponsive in an apartment where the smoke and flames were coming from.
Davis was taken to Hawkins County Hospital Emergency Room, where she later died.
According to the release, the building was heavily damaged by the fire and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Bomb and Arson Unit was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
Davis’ body was taken to ETSU’s Department of Forensic Pathology for an autopsy.
The Striggersville Volunteer Fire Department, Carter’s Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Stanley Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Goshen Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Persia Volunteer Fire Department, Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department, Bulls Gap Volunteer Fire Department and Surgoinsville Fire Department, as well as the Hawkins County Emergency Management Agency assisted in fighting the fire.
