MEDIA GENERAL) – To show support for veterans and active members of the military, a number of restaurants, stores and museums are offering freebies and discounts on Memorial Day weekend.
Some of the discounts are for active military members and veterans. Others include immediate family and still others are open to everyone. We’ve compiled a list below. We suggest you check with your local store before heading out to make sure it is participating.
Located throughout the southeastern part of the U.S., Shoney’s is offering a FREE all-american burger to active-duty and military veterans on Memorial Dan. Proof of military service is required. Lowe’s On Memorial Day
Lowe’s10% military discount is given to those serving in the Armed Services, immediate family and all veterans. To qualify, you must have a valid military ID card, Veteran Identification Card, or other proof of service.
All veterans and active duty military qualify for a 10 percent discount from Thursday, May 21 – Monday, May 25. Anyone requesting the Memorial Day veterans discount is asked to present a DOD-issued military ID, a veteran’s driver’s license (in applicable states) or a DD214 that states they were honorably discharged.
From May 21 – May 31, active, reserve and retired military men and women are eligible for a double discount: 40 percent off regular priced tools or an extra 10 percent off promotional priced tools. You are asked to present military identification to take advantage of this deal.
Blue Star Museums Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, from Memorial Day, May 25, 2015 through Labor Day, September 7, 2015.
