Family of woman hit, killed by Johnson City garbage truck files lawsuit

On Friday, February 6th, 2015, Julie Harper, 54, stepped into the crosswalk near the intersection of North Roan Street and Browns Mill Road.

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – The family of a woman, who was killed after being hit by a garbage truck in a Johnson City intersection on North Roan Street earlier this month, filed a lawsuit against the city of Johnson City Monday.

A Johnson City garbage truck hit Julie Harper on Feb. 6, as she tried to cross the intersection of Browns Mills Road and North Roan Street.

Attorney Don E. Spurrell filed the wrongful death lawsuit in Washington County Circuit Court on behalf of Gregory Harper, the victim’s son.

The lawsuit seeks for Gregory Harper to recover damages on behalf of his mother for pain, suffering and loss of life as well as damages for his emotional pain and suffering.
