It’s Josh Smith with a quick update on some of the top stories we’re covering today.
Temperatures are dropping through the day and will end up in the single digits overnight. This is a dangerous weather situation for people outside for a prolonged period of time. Please take precautions to stay warm, and don’t forget the outside animals. Chief Meteorologist Mark Reynolds will have lots more on the weather starting at 5 p.m..
The Tennessee Valley Authority and local power companies are urging all of us to reduce power use this tonight and tomorrow. TVA expects peak demand as people try to stay warm, and the utility is concerned a lack of conservation may result in power outages across the TVA grid.
About 50 firefighters are still putting out hotspots at the Appalachian Forest Products building in Mosheim, Tennessee. Fire destroyed the building this morning. About 17 fire departments were called to help put out the fire. Look for live reports starting at 5 p.m..
