Kingsport police arrested a man Wednesday following an investigation into a stolen electric shopping cart from Food City, 300 Clinchfield St., on Oct. 16.

Kevin T. Marshall, 22, a resident of the John R. Hay House, 427 East Sullivan Street in Kingsport, was identified as the suspect after KPD received citizen tips in response to surveillance video released of the theft.

Marshall was charged with theft over $1,000 and was taken to the Kingsport City Jail.

Kingsport police were asking the public’s help in finding a man who allegedly stole an electric shopping cart from a grocery store back in October.

The man can be seen in surveillance footage posted online by police getting on the cart and driving it out the door of Food City, 300 Clinchfield St. around 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 16.

Police found the cart, which is worth $2,500, in the alley that runs behind the 400 block of West Center Street.
