Tennessee’s Oldest Town is turning up the heat for its annual Chili Cook-Off.

The event is set for Sunday, October 12 from Noon to 4 p.m. at the International Storytelling Center’s Storytelling Park.

Sponsored by the Jonesborough Area Merchants & Services Association, the event includes a variety of activities for the entire family.

Individuals and teams will compete for the coveted title of the best chili in Jonesborough with categories for Judge’s Chili Champion, People’s Choice and Best Booth Decorations.

Spectators will have the opportunity to sample all competing chili for $7, free for children 10 & under, and cast a vote on their favorite chili and booth décor. Public voting will take place from Noon to 3 p.m. as the winners will be announced prior to the end of the event at 4 p.m. A select panel of celebrity judges, including News Channel 11’s Kasey Marler, will also sample the chili and vote on the Chili Champion Award.

Other activities to take place during the Jonesborough Chili Cook-Off include a children’s area, family storytelling, craft vendors and live music from local artists.

Craft beer and other food items will also be available for purchase.

Proceeds will benefit the Jonesborough Area Merchants & Services Association and Jonesborough Area Ministerial Association.
