Alzheimer’s Association Kicks Off 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Event

Greeneville, Johnson City, and Bristol TN. – Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.  Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions.  Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease which is the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.
To get the ball rolling for this years Walk the Alzheimer’s Association will be holding three kickoff parties to get everyone excited for the start of a new Walk season! The first kick-off party will be on Thursday, June 19th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Top Dog Event Center in Greeneville. The second kick-off party will be in Johnson City on Friday, June 27th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn on Springbrook Drive. The third and final kick-off will be held at the Bristol Motor Speedway in the Bruton Smith Building on Friday, July 11th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Area residents, business owners, and anyone else who is interested is asked to come out to the party of their choice for a free lunch, door prizes, motivational messages and more! They’ll have a chance to pickup fundraising items to sell, register for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and much more.
“There are currently over 5 million Americans with Alzheimer’s disease and we have no cure”, said Tabitha Ebbert, the Manager of Programs and Education for the Alzheimer’s Association. Alzheimer’s is a deadly disease that inflicts a heavy toll, not only on the patient, but also on the caregivers and other family and friends.  Our walk serves as a way for people to come together and show their support and that they care about working toward a cure.”
