Accused hayride shooter faces 10 counts of attempted first-degree murder

HAWKINS COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A Rogersville man now faces 10 counts of attempted first-degree murder stemming from an alleged hayride shooting incident this past October.

Trevor Burton, was originally charged with only three counts of attempted murder back in October, when he was accused of firing a gun at officers who had responded to reports of shots being fired from his home in the Caney Creek area of Rogersville.

Burton was accused of firing a weapon at children and adults who were on a hayride near his home. He then reportedly fired shots at the officers.

A Hawkins County grand jury indicted Burton on seven additional attempted murder charges June 2.

He appeared in court Friday and was given a trial date of Feb. 23,2015.

Burton was jailed in the Hawkins County Jail.
