JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) –The man accused of killing a college student and injuring three others in downtown Johnson City now faces a first-degree murder charge.
Johnson City police previously charged Jamarcus Jackson with second-degree murder and other charges in connection to the March shooting outside The Battery, a downtown restaurant.
The Washington County Grand Jury indicted Jackson on an increased charge of first-degree murder last week.
In addition to first-degree murder, grand jurors also indicted Jackson on charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Investigators previously said an argument inside The Battery carried over into the parking lot. Police said that argument ended with Jackson firing several shots, one killing 24-year old King University student DeShaun Greer.
Jackson is due back in court on May 16th.
