BRISTOL, TN (WJHL) – Patients told us their former doctor created a dental dilemma in our region. They said he took a bite out of their wallets and they were left with a bad taste in their mouths.
Dr. Hardev Patel once operated Quality Denture Care in Bluff City. On May 9th Dr. Patel left the practice, he cited a family illness.
More than one hundred patients told police they paid Patel for dentures, but never received them
Now, the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office has begun the first phase of a criminal investigation into Patel.
The color on the Quality Denture Care sign in Bluff City continues to fade away while the number of people who have a gripe with Dr. Hardev Patel, the owner of the facility, continue to grow.
“It’s not right to the public for them to take from people, as many people as they’ve taken from and just skip town,” said a former patient.
Some want their money back but others just want what they paid for.
“I”m not in it for money i just would like my permanent teeth,” said Glenda Ingle, a former patient.
Sullivan County District Attorney Barry Staubus gathered all the patients all in one place.
“I know each one of you all are victims there’s no question about that the question that i have to do as the district attorney is determine whether or not you are a victim of a crime,” said Staubus.
General Staubus wants a grand jury subpoena to get records from Quality Denture Care so he build a criminal case against Dr. Patel.
“It’s going to take some time so i’m going to ask you all to the patient. Just sitting down and reading each one of your forms is going to take quite a bit of time,” said Staubus.
Staubus even admits, this case is one of a kind.
