An argument over a broken television set may have led to a stabbing in Sullivan County. Police responded to a home on Buncombe Road in Blountville and found Michael Bingham with stab wounds to his stomach.

Witnesses told investigators, Bingham and Wayne Colvin, Jr. were at the Buncombe Road home, when they were arguing over a broken television.

Witnesses added Colvin told Bingham to clean up the glass from the broken TV, but Bingham refused.

According to witness statements, Bingham attempted to attack Colvin with pruning shears and the struggle continued with Colvin pulling out a pocket knife – thus stabbing Bingham in the stomach.

Bingham was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Charges are pending in this case. Due to children being present during the assault, the department of Children Services was called.
