Tornado outbreak 2 years later; manhunt for prison escapee

Good afternoon and HAPPY FRIDAY from the News Channel 11 newsroom.

It's Josh Smith.

I hope you can join us tonight for the news starting at 5pm.

We're marking the 2 year anniversary this weekend of the deadly tornado outbreak that hit our region.

Sara Diamond will have the news from the studio.  I'll be reporting live in Washington County, Virginia.  The rest of our team will report on other communities where lives were lost and property was damaged.

Also tonight, we'll tell you about a massive manhunt underway for a fugitive who could be hiding out in Hawkins County, Tennessee.   The man they're looking for escaped from a Kentucky prison.  He's known to have broken into homes in at least two states.  Nate Morabito is on the story for us.

And we're remembering the life of county music legend George Jones who died today at the age of 81.   I've been humming “He Stopped Loving Her Today” to myself all day long.

Of course, weather will be a big focus for the News Channel 11 Storm Team.   It could be a very rainy weekend. in the Tri-Cities Region.  Mark Reynolds will have the forecast.

And Kenny Hawkins will have a wrap-up after day one of the NFL Draft.

We hope you can join us starting at 5pm on News Channel 11.

Have a great afternoon!
