Questions continue to be raised by parents and teachers in Sullivan County about the county's plan to close one or more schools.
Many people have told News Channel 11 they wonder if there is another option.
One viewer contacted News Channel 11 asking why the county is not considering consolidating with Kingsport City and Bristol City schools.
They pointed out that some other school systems across the state, like in Knoxville and Memphis, have already consolidated their city and county schools.
News Channel 11's Melissa Hipolit took that question to school leaders in Sullivan County and Kingsport.
“It's not something the county board or myself are pushing for at this point,” said Dr. Jubal Yennie, Director of Schools in Sullivan County.
“I don't think there's any incentives there that anyone could say would be good for a city school system to do that,” said Dr. Lyle Ailshie, Director of Schools for Kingsport City.
Dr. Yennie did tell News Channel 11 the county is in talks with the city to share resources, but Dr. Ailshie said that idea is not getting much traction.
